Embracing Change: My Emotional Transition from US to Mexico

As I  begin to make the transition from the US to Mexico, I am struck by the stark differences between the two countries. Naturally, I find myself experiencing a range of emotions – from intrigue and happiness to sadness and fear – on a daily basis. However, this move has also brought me a deeper sense of gratitude. Life has slowed down significantly; the simplest of tasks, such as learning a new language or converting dollars to pesos, require more effort and patience. Yet, I don’t mind the challenge as I find focusing on the simple moments to be a refreshing break from the commercialism and intensity of life in the US.

I am acutely aware of the complexity of my situation. Had I not been born and raised in the US, and provided with the opportunity to build an incredible personal economy, I would not have had the freedom to explore a second home or a new way of life in a foreign land. Perhaps this is why I am overwhelmed at times by tears of gratitude for the abundant life I lead. It is a reminder I am committed to finding peace in my growth and making self-love and gratitude a priority. This new skill, this new muscle I am developing, will allow me to extend kindness, understanding, and gratitude to others as I observe their journeys.

Thank you for walking alongside me on this journey. I encourage you to show yourself kindness and gratitude as you navigate your own path.

With Gratitude and Love,

Melisa
